Christmas Lights Program

The Mostyn Moreno Foundation’s signature program is the “Christmas Lights” program. It benefits special education students enrolled in a Texas public school district’s life skills classrooms during the Christmas season.  Unlike other programs that solicit toys to give to needy children, our program takes the children to a local retail store, accompanied by their teachers and aides, so they may select and purchase their own Christmas gifts.

This allows the children to use critical skills such as math, decision-making, social skills and other important life skills with the guidance of their teachers. Following each of the community based instructional trips, the students and their families are provided a catered holiday luncheon with their teachers and Santa Claus.

Our annual program includes 1250+ Life Skill students enrolled in the following 19 public school districts in Texas:

Athens ISD, Beaumont ISD, Buna ISD, Carlisle ISD, Galveston ISD, Henderson ISD, Jacksonville ISD, Kirbyville ISD, Laneville ISD, Leverett’s Chapel ISD, Mt. Enterprise ISD, Nederland ISD, Overton ISD, Port Arthur ISD, Port Neches – Groves ISD, Tatum ISD, Tyler ISD – Boshears Center, West Rusk Consolidated County ISD, and Whitehouse ISD.

Participating districts are pre-selected by the foundation’s board of directors.

The Glenda Jean Mostyn and Joe E Moreno Educational Foundation is a 501 (c)3 public charity. Your gift is very much appreciated and fully deductible as a charitable contribution.
